Day 2 of 24 Days of Thanks

Life can be hectic these days. Three kids ages 8, 5 and 21 months. Busy schedules, the time ticking away as each day passes and sometimes most of the time, I've got my agenda lined out for the day. There's little time (in my mind) to stop and "smell the roses" (it's more often like dirty diapers here). And that's too bad because there are so many heartfelt, cute moments with the kids that quickly pass because I'm too hurried,  frantically getting to the next thing on the "to do list". Lately, I've tried (and failed) at soaking up the moments that you can't get back with kids these age.

This morning was no exception. We hurried out the door and down the road to school, when the 2 oldest look out the window and yell, "LOOK AT THE SUNRISE!!"

I look to my right and sure enough, the sun was an enormous orange ball rising over the horizon. The kids were busily talking about God's creation, how He could do something so cool as make the sun so big, so colorful. In my mind, I had a decision to make...keep driving just to "make it on time" or take this moment they were so enamored in and join them.

So I chose to stop...pull over on the side of the road (imagine their surprise!) and take some pictures, capturing this small moment we had together, in awe of the Creator.

Today, I'm thankful for the small, fleeting, priceless moments of my day. I'm learning to "carpe diem" knowing these days with young kids will be gone before I know it.

Oh...and did we make it to school on time? You bet...we were even a few minutes early.
