Over the last few months we have had the opportunity to visit several other churches and share what God is doing in our family. Throughout these visits, I have been reminded of several things...
-As Christians, we are all a part of God's family and purpose. Despite what songs are sung, or how the church pews look, our purpose and goal is (or should be) the same: to see lost saved and get ready for eternity. I am thankful that we've had the experience of other churches to remind me that there's not one right way to do things...and just because it's different from what our church does doesn't mean it's wrong (yes, taken from a conversation with the kids :)
-Being a part of God's family means we have each other as brothers and sisters in Christ! This morning we were visiting a church and it struck me that we have this amazing opportunity to meet more of our "eternal family" each time we visit somewhere new. Even if our paths never cross again on this earth, I will see them in Heaven.
-I'm also reminded every time we're gone how much I miss our church family. We know we have people praying for us, supporting us financially, encouraging us on this journey. They are our support system, but more than that, people we love...even the ones who harass me every week!
Today, I'm thankful for the body of Christ and the opportunities we have to see it in its different forms. Despite the differences we have, may we never lose sight of our common eternal goal.
