Day 5 of 24 Days of Thanks

In a recent conversation with my 8 year old we talked about the matter of forgiveness. When you're wrong, it's never easy to admit you've messed up and say, "I'm sorry. Will you forgive me?" And on the other end of the spectrum, it's sometimes even harder to be the one to say, "Yes, you've hurt me, but I forgive you...and I still love you" no matter what feelings are there.

Tough life lessons for not only an 8 year old to learn, but for many adults as well.

My relationship with Jesus is no different. Daily I'm messing up, recognizing the need for Him to wash my slate clean. The hope, as I was trying to explain to my son, is that we learn from our mistakes and work on not repeating the same offense again.

I'm thankful that my Heavenly Father is patient with me when I inevitably mess things up and even more grateful at the forgiveness He offers.

He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.
The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
Psalm 103:12-13
