So, when I opened our box, I saw a couple of things (mostly said junk), but what caught my eye was the return address of my Nannie which got me excited. I love snail mail, although I'm not always the best at sending it, I love receiving it! Junk mail tossed, envelope from Nannie in hand, I got back into the van to three kids asking if it was mail for them.
"Actually," I announced, "It's addressed to me...from Nannie!" A collective groan was heard as they discovered their name wasn't on the envelope. Kids...thinking ALL the mail has their name on it...good grief! Just because 9 times out of 10 it IS for them??? I've offered to give them the bills, but they have yet to get excited about that...what gives?!
The kids resigned to giving me a moment to read and when I opened the card, this little gem fell out...
In this picture...I see my dad...myself...even a bit of Mo. After getting over seeing so many other faces I love, I turned the picture over to see what was written on the back. Nannie, of course, has documented the location and date of when the picture was taken...October 23, 1943 (sorry to let the cat out of the bag Nannie! :)) She's always written on the back of pictures-advice she passed on to me as a little girl-so you always know where and when the picture was taken and who was in it! Good advice...long before the days of technology!
I'm sure Nannie would also agree--at that age she couldn't imagine at 12 she would be married to my Papaw for over 50 years, have 2 sons, 2 **amazing** grandkids and 5
**wonderfully, spectacular**great-grandkids!
You DO agree Nannie...right?!?!? :)
