The question most asked? "Do you curl her hair that way?!" Umm...no, this is God's creation (and in my opinion a total gift even though I know she will probably loathe it in her tween/teen years!)
Over the last several months it seemed that Mo's hair had gone on a crazy growth spurt. The length made tangles a norm and were cause for much screaming and crying every time we washed it. Even with all the drama, she insisted that we not cut it until we were back in Texas with Chrissy, our hair favorite hair guru.
The months went by and Mo's orange locks were getting so long that when wet and brushed, it ran the length of her back! I mentioned to her the Locks of Love program that turns hair into wigs for kids who various medical conditions that cause them to lose their hair. Mo loved the idea and said that she not only wanted to donate her hair, she also wanted to pray for the little girl who would, as Mo said, have "matching hair".
We couldn't have been more thrilled with her heart and attitude.
So Tuesday morning, we met with Chrissy and said good-bye to over 10 inches of orange curly locks!
Mo wasn't the least bit hesitant when the scissors started...even though this mama had a tear in her eye. But Mo keeps reminding me...it will grow back...after all, it's just hair!
Mo loves the new short style so much I think we may have a vanity issue now! She can't stop admiring her new hair cut in every mirror she passes! Small vanity issue aside, I'm thankful for sweet Mo's heart and desire to pass a true God given gift on to someone else who needs it. Our prayer is that another sweet girl would feel just as beautiful with her "new" hair as we know the Lord sees her.
