Time is Flying

If you're still checking in occasionally...thank you!!! The last eight weeks have flown by. It's hard to believe two months ago today we were leaving friends and family at the airport to make our way here.

We've learned so much since our arrival and still have plenty to glean from the people here in PNG. There are days I'm still in awe as I look out through coconut and papaya trees to see the ocean...we're actually here!! God has been faithful and we have seen Him help us through some stressful, stretching times and we've had to lean hard on Him through those certain times of uncertainty. We are grateful for His hand of protection watching over us and praying for the same as we enter the second part of our training.

One of the many highlights we've had so far was showing the Jesus film in one of the villages we stopped at on our 3 day hike. The film was translated into the local language, NobNob. Almost every person here speaks Tok Pisin (what we're learning), their local mother tongue and possibly their father or mother's local language if they are not from the same place. Seeing the people's faces light up at hearing the movie in NobNob was so exciting to watch. You could tell that they truly understood what was being said.

There were almost 50 people from the village that came. The picture doesn't do the night justice. Because of the rain that came right before the movie started, many sat under the house that sits on stilts so they wouldn't miss out. We were worried that the gas powered projector would get wet, but the Lord saw fit for that area to stay dry...the entire time!! The sheet screen also stayed dry while everything else was soaked. Coincidence? I don't think so!

(We leave for our 5 weeks of village living this week...will try to update again before we go!)
