Christmas

My feet are marked from tan lines. The ground is green and squishy from almost daily down pours. It’s Christmas time in the tropics and it certainly feels much different than Christmas last year when there was snow on the ground in TEXAS!!

My "dry spot" to hang laundry is a little flooded!

So a few highlights from our first Christmas here...

*Stocking up on food! All of the departments, including the store, close for 2 weeks.  Here, 10 kilograms or 22 pounds of flour...in one bag...in my freezer! That amounts to alot of bread, waffles and cookies in my future!

*Speaking of baking...we made Christmas sugar cookies. The kids loved it so we’ll be adding that one to the list of traditions.

*Christmas caroling with our Bible study group. Our girls really got into it and at least it was good entertainment for the neighbors.

*Community kids Christmas Eve play. I volunteered to help and although it was more time consuming than I anticipated, the kids did a great job. (Way to go my baby sheep and behind the scenes guy!)

*Christmas Eve with friends that included a gift exchange with gifts made from only things found at your house...NO BUYING ALLOWED!! My husband, who does not tend to love these sorts of shenanigans, shocked me with his genius finger weaving from bilum string. He made a garland and I loved it so much I had him make me one and put it in my stocking! If the whole pilot thing doesn't work out maybe he can open his own Etsy store.

*Christmas Day was filled with love from family back home. A big THANK YOU to all of our family for sending Christmas on the slow boat back in July!!

Living Room Disaster = So Much FUN!!

And a big thank you to all of you who have been praying for us this Christmas season. Yes, there have been tears as we miss everyone and everything we were used to, but we have felt His peace through it all. He is the reason we celebrate...He is the reason we are here.
