The Sound of Music

For a year, yes, a year now my son has been waiting for this term of school. Not because he’ll soon be a fifth grader, there’s excitement with that don't get me wrong, but because he knew band was on the horizon.

This week was THE week that the fourth grade met with the band teacher and tried out different instruments. For months now we’ve been praying about whether he should go with trumpet or trombone. (Thankfully drums aren’t an option til 7th grade...much to his disappointment and our relief!) The catch for trombone was having long enough arms, but sure enough, he has the arm length to get the slide into position.

You see the trombone? Well, that’s a God story in and of itself. Someone here was selling it for a really, really good price and listed it for sale the day before D’s meeting! Not knowing what condition it was in, I was skeptical, but it turns out to be in great shape and we’ll hopefully get many more years of sounds...turned music...in the years to come.

(And to be honest...seeing this picture kind of hurts my heart. My baby boy is growing up and we’re entering a new stage of parenting. It’s exciting, nerve wracking and prayer inducing all at once!)
