Here's a few, okay, (a lot??) of pictures from the last couple of days.
Thursday we hit the road...let's be honest...his smile may look a little forced. Actually, I think he was in shock that I was already taking pictures! I can't help myself.
Long story that I'll spare all the nitty gritty, but we were going to see my brother and his family, they were going to be out of town so they said just to stay at their house anyway! (Thanks J&J!!!)
Plans changed, we decided to drive north from their house a bit to eat at Clanton's...featured on Diners, Drive-In's & Dives.
Best.chicken.fried.steak.ever. (Oh...and pie!)The owner was there and kept checking on us, making sure we cleaned our plates...not a problem! Everything was so good! I want to go back already!
Clanton's is conveniently located right in front of this great sign...
Day 2...on the road again. This time with me at the wheel.
He was reading, I resorted to singing.
Was he just trying to tune my 80's soprano out? (I don't want to know the truth!)
Boredom broken...we arrived at the St. Louis arch!
We had no idea there was a museum underneath!
I'll limit myself to posting just 2 more of us at the arch.
It's truly ridiculous how many pictures a person can take in such a short amount of time!
And really...this last pic took an insane amount of time to get staged. I wanted us AND the arch in the picture. Is it too much to ask?!
The short answer is yes...but we finally got one even though I have no chin or neck to account for!
Day 3...me back at the wheel. Illinois is flat and full of corn fields.
We pressed on to Wisconsin. And sadly, I didn't get to Sheboygan...not on our route. Oh well...maybe on the way home?! (I can see him rolling his eyes as I type this!)
However, because of a construction detour, we ended up on a self guided tour of downtown Milwaukee.
I'm sure it would have been better with a guide...or some popcorn?
A few hours later...we made it!
We are so thankful for the Lord's protection, safe travels and some fun along the way! Church in the morning, setup and meetings tomorrow afternoon...the real fun starts bright and early Monday morning!
