Date Night!

Honestly, I figured date nights for us were over. I was going to settle for late dinners after the kids went to bed nestled in front of our computer watching a movie. I mean, that’s better than nothing right?!

Enter the UIS Class of 2015 and an Italian Dinner fundraiser! A perfect opportunity to “go out” on a Saturday night!

We snagged a baby sitter for the “second seating” and hopped on the bike to dinner.
Note: my kids realization that their mother could “hop on the bike” threw them in a tail spin.

“You’ve never been on a motorcycle. You can’t ride.”

“Mommy. Be careful. Hold on tight to daddy”.

“Do you even know how to put the helmet on?”

Thank you for your concern children. My offspring, before I turned into the enforcer of rules, baths, bedtimes, watcher of vegetable intake, teeth brushing, laundry for 5 and homework I did things like go out, stay up late and yes, I’ve even been on a motorcycle before tonight.

Their picture of me is a bit skewed I think.

Needless to say, all three watched anxiously from the window and cheered when rode off down the driveway into the night. Surely they have nothing better to do on their Saturday?!

Anyway, the dinner was great...no cooking or cleaning up for me! We dined with friends, laughed, took pictures and closed the place down at 9 p.m.

A few items to note in this picture.

First, I had been laughing SO hard two seconds before this picture was taken hence the large amount of teeth showing.

Second...I want my very thoughtful friend SV to take note of the green sweater. Still my absolute favorite. Know it’s being well worn and loved here!

Third...never, ever, take the matter of bangs into your own hands. Consult your friends first, even if it means Skyping those closest to you and ask, “Should I cut bangs or no?” If they say yes, find new friends and put the scissors down. Or at least consult a professional hair stylist who could cut a straight line.

Thanks Junior class and your parents for a lovely evening, an opportunity for adult conversation and analyze pictures of themselves. One day when my children are Juniors I will gladly work a fundraiser to give another set of parents a chance to do the same.
