Term One

And just like that...term one is done!

A few highlights of the term...

SPORTS DAY!! This is a BIG DEAL for the primary campus. Think field day in States, but somehow it seemed like a bigger thing here?? Maybe it was the team shirts...which are sadly yellow for the Brew Crew and sadly only because yellow is just not a great color for me.

Another sad thing? We lost to the red team, but there's always next year right?!?

The day was FULL of a variety of sports related activities.

D ran his heart out...

Mo and her team at the ball toss...

D won third in individual on the softball toss...the kid has an arm!

Don't think for a minute that Mo could have done the sack races without the pig tails, open mouth and princess glasses! I had to crop this for the full effect of her in the sack!
Not all of us are old enough to compete so we found ways to entertain ourselves in things like bamboo for the day. I'm just thankful she didn't poke her eye out!

There was the intense tug of war. Or confusing depending on your age and gender. I'm not sure how much the first grade girls were really "into it", but they tried! Good effort girls!

Now the fourth grade boys on the other hand...look at that intensity...

There they go...seconds before the fall down!

And look who got a Sportsmanship Award that day???

We've now entered the world of musical instruments. Imagine for a moment hearing attempted "Hot Cross Buns"with no rhythm for as many times as one can attempt to play in a span of 15 minutes.

Thank you for entering our world.

And let's not forget the very first science project. The subject matter: landforms. The best was when D came home and rattled off a list of things he needed...a box, paper, glue, play doh...

Wait. Stop. You need play doh? Um...it's not like I can go to our 24 hour superstore and buy some.

He reassures me that I don't have to worry...he's brought home a recipe for a batch.

Thanks. I'll get right on that.

When all was said and done, he got an A on his project and didn't even give credit to the amazing play doh that was probably THE reason he got such a good grade.

Good grief.

Yes, I suppose this post is a little one sided with fourth grade, but it's been a big term for him...and us. The learning curves are steep this year it seems with responsibility, tests and homework. And I know there's more for everyone to learn this year, but for now, we'll just work on surviving our two and a half week break together!
