This week was my birthday, so when Jason came home and showed me this picture he took flying over the south coast, clearly I thought this was his gift for me...my own private island.
Sadly, I was mistaken.
But thanks to some wonderful, persistent friends who wouldn't let their life circumstances (i.e. lice, a husband who'd been away on a two week trip, another getting ready to head back to the U.S.)...I celebrated another year...even without an island to my name.
Besides family, I miss my girlfriends something fierce. God has overwhelmed me with amazing friends on this side of the globe who listen, love and make me laugh. I am one blessed girl because I get to do life with these ladies here.
I also miss restaurants, but the teens put on a "hamburger night" several Friday nights during each term, which means I didn't have to cook on my birthday-woo hoo!
Look! I even had a Dr. Pepper!
For a second I forgot which country I was in.
Then my husband says crazy things like, "Hey! Let's go get frozen yogurt after this!!"
He's so mean.
And I couldn't hit him because he was too far away, so he got a really dirty look from across the table.
And speaking of friends, yesterday our friends (on the far right) headed back to the U.S., New Jersey to be exact. They were our neighbors and here on a nine month "exploritory trip" to see if this is somewhere the Lord wants them to serve. Lord willing they'll be back in a year. We already miss them.
This has been a great week because of all the people in my life around the world. The messages, the emails, the cards, the gifts...my heart is full! I'm grateful for another year and looking forward to what the Lord has in store in the days to come!
