His poor left ear is permanently floppy after he defended his territory fighting a stray dog :( |
It was quite the traumatic experience for both of us. The surgery took place in our friends carport on a table. And only MY dog would wake up halfway during surgery!! It was horrible and heartbreaking...until he got another shot. Then it took him the rest of the day to wake up!
Mo even felt bad that he couldn't stand up to eat so she brought his bowl to him and his poor head just landed in his bowl. Ugh. What a day. What a sight!
Thankfully, he's on the mend, but I have to remove his stitches this week and let's just say I'm not thrilled about the prospect. Oh the joys of pet ownership in a third world country.
Moving on to food news since there's really no great segue from a dog surgery to what I've been up to in the kitchen.
Having Mexican for dinner takes awhile when you have to make your own tortillas.
And for someone who can't sew a straight line, certainly it can't be expected of me to have ROUND tortillas. I think the kids find amusement in the shapes they get on their plate, but they taste good so that's the most important thing right?
Fresh from the garden this week...CORN! It's not exactly the sweet corn we loved in Kansas, but with enough butter and salt, it tastes pretty great and this girl was SO excited! She talked about eating corn for dinner...ALL DAY!
We didn't have the "sticker thingys" as she calls them but no matter, we have hands and that seemed to suit her just fine.
And a shout out to Grammy for sending Christmas M&M's in the box she mailed in November, that arrived in January that weren't used until February! I hid the M&M's and then sorted the red ones out to make cookies for Valentine's Day! The perfect substitute for chocolate chips when you realize the store has run out!
The green ones are back in hiding until St. Patrick's Day.
Who am I kidding...they'll be gone by the end of the week.
