Goroka

Jason was off last week after a couple of very busy and stressful weeks out at aviation. With the kids still on break, we took a little road trip to Goroka for some shopping and to eat at a restaurant. The kids had never been so it was good for them to see another part of the country.

Goroka is about a 2 hour drive depending on the number of potholes. We made it in pretty good time even with some roadwork being done due to landslides in the earlier part of the year. The drive on the Highlands Highway is always so beautiful and scenic.

The gardens are neatly planted in straight lines, even on the side of mountains!

Blue skies, a few clouds and of course, mountains...

The restaurant we ate at had a pool. Having never been there, we weren't prepared to swim, but next time I'm sure these two will remind us to bring their suits. Can't you feel their disappointment?
We also played "count the pigs" along the drive. In PNG everything roams the road...people, pigs, dogs and goats. So as we're looking and counting pigs, we passed a truck with a bed full of pink little piggies bouncing up and down in the back! Nothing gets your count skewed like a truck load. So we tweaked our our final answer to 28 and a truckload. That's alot of bacon!
