November Recap

Before December gets too far ahead of me, I wanted to recap some of November's highlights...

D is learning guitar. Between practicing his trombone and getting ready for the Christmas concert, his mouth and fingers have been sore!

Praise God for RAIN!! We've had some good rain showers lately and at the end of some, God's promise shines...

A couple of weeks ago the wind and rain blew so hard that a tree fell on a power line down our street. Thankfully, no houses or people were hurt when the line and tree fell.

Because of the severity of the issue, we were without power for 27 hours. Given where we are, things could have been so much worse! So very thankful for the team at the construction and maintenance department for their efforts in getting a new pole installed and power restored. It was a mess!

A candlelight dinner was the name of the game the first night with no power. I'm thankful that we have a gas stove so cooking wasn't a problem.

I caught Mal and her friend dancing like crazy one afternoon in their dress up clothes. These two have birthdays exactly one month a part and they're always having too much fun!

Move over "Black Friday"...it's "Black Saturday" in Uka. Actually, it's just the annual store Christmas sale. The store team orders all sorts of things from around the world in time for the sale. Most items are quite expensive because import and shipping costs have to be added in. Really it's just an excuse to grab our chairs, our coffee and friends and wait in line...sans hubby's or kids!

Thanksgiving isn't a holiday here, so we celebrate with friends each year on the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year, we pre-planned a little bit on food and splurged on a ham while we were in Lae a few weeks before. The ham leg was so big it wouldn't fit in my tiny oven!! Jason sawed the ham hock off so it fit perfectly in the pan and thankfully in the oven!

We had so much food and so much fun! We made up a "photo booth" and had ridiculous Thanksgiving themed props. Love this group of people...and look at all those kids!

Just last week we received 4 jam packed boxes from our sending church in Texas. Everything from cookies to shoes for the kids arrived just in time for the holidays. We were blown away and yes, there were tears, especially reading the notes from our friends and church family. Thank you CBC family!! You are amazing!!
