Standing

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love's strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
List'ning every moment to the Spirit's call.
Resting in my Savior as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

I was reminded of this "oldie but goodie" this morning as I got ready to tackle the day. Yes, today is a tackle day. Things need to get done, marked off the list. Add a good dose of worry, concern and doubt and boy don't we have a day in the making?!

But I am reminded that God's Word is full of TRUTHS that I can lean on, take refuge in and stand firm "
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail".

When I'm down, He's there always promising to love me.

When I feel like I am alone, He reminds me He is there.

He is my Provision and my Sustainer. I can trust in Him.

I don't have to stand in sinking sand, but a firm foundation full of His promises laid out right in front of me. And when I try to stand on my own (yes, I still try sometimes even though I know I can't do it! When will I learn?? Probably, never!) He's gently reminding me that I still need Him fully and completely. I can't stand on my own.
