Sunday Snapshots {The Pig, The Knight & The Shakes}

The highlight of this week was the “Book Parade” at the primary campus. For the last 2 weeks the school focused on the importance of reading. Each class set goals to read a certain number of hours which by the way, every grade exceeded their goals! There was also a book exchange and a book collection to help one of the valley schools start their school library. The culmination of the two weeks is a book parade on Friday where each kid dresses up as their favorite character from a book.

Mo chose “Olivia the Pig” and D, a knight from a series he devoured. Thanks to some cardboard, spray paint and a cape I made (yes out of an old bed sheet) his outfit came together.

Oh and we spray painted an old motorcycle helmet for added "knightish" affect!

Over the weekend we had two sizeable earthquakes. We’ve experienced countless earthquakes since arriving in PNG and this weekend was no exception. Early Saturday morning as I stood in the kitchen making breakfast, the kitchen started rattling I stopped...while everything else around me kept moving. Then Sunday night the now familiar shake of the bed combined with the rattling of the windows signaled what turns out to be a 5.0 earthquake near Lae, about 4 hours from here. Clearly we were feeling the aftershocks and I can’t imagine what it would feel like being closer to the epicenter.

Speaking of shaking...have you heard the new one by Mercy Me called “Shake”?? If you haven’t go listen NOW and if you’re not shakin’ by the end of it, we need to talk!
